A fantastic and rare garnet var. grossular with green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 3mm are transparent and gem with green cores which are result of chromium, and surrounded by transparent colorless areas. The crystals have a rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible contrast. Some small black chromite inclusions are seen too. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some outside edge contacts. On acrylic base.

Gorgeous phantom garnets!
