An outstanding specimen from the legendary and one of the most classic localities for wulfenite - Mezica, Slovenia. It displays sharp wulfenite crystals densely covering the host rock core from all sides. The color is an intense caramel-orange. The crystals are tabular and all of them are very strange because of the biscuit like growth – featuring a distinctive dark orange band surrounded by brighter orange outer layers. Adding to its uniqueness, the typically flat faces of the tabular crystals are adorned with pyramidal terminations, a highly uncommon habit for wulfenite, making this piece particularly rare and desirable. It shows beautifully from all sides. For references The Mineralogical Record, March-April 1991: Famous Mineral Localities: The Mezica Mine, Slovenia, Yugoslavia. In excellent condition – some small damages.
Sumptuous!
