A superb specimen of very rare tourmaline (luinaite-(OH)) decorating a quartz crystal from Bald Hornet Prospect, King County, Washington, USA. Luinaite-(OH) was an approved member of the Tourmaline Group, but discredited as a species in 2022. Luinaite-(OH) is found only in several places in the world and the only locality for this species in North America is the Bald Hornet Prospect. Samples from there can be considered as the triclinic dimorph of oxy-dravite. It displays vibrant, brassy green acicular radial sprays of luinaite-(OH). They are very well definite, and strongly light reflective. Sharp and water clear quartz crystal form the base. Luinaite-(OH) inclusions are seen inside. It displays attractively on both sides. In very good condition – some base part contacts. On acrylic base.
Excellent and rare luinaite-(OH)!
