An exceptional top specimen of honey-orange colored grossular garnet crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. Often these pieces show orange grossular crystals uniformly covering the matrix, without a focal point. This specimen is different – two beautiful main crystals to 13mm at the top form a gorgeous focal point, accompanied by numerous smaller ones. They are extremely transparent, gem quality with superb luster and rich color. They are glassy lustrous and clear - pure orange water. The crystals have a perfect rhombic dodecahedral habit with sharp crystallization. All crystals have the nice striations characteristic for Jeffrey mine. With such amazing gemminess, glassy luster and irresistible color it is a truly superb garnet from this great and closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In superb condition – some minor natural imperfections.
Spectacular, world grade quality Jeffrey mine garnet – a real enrichment for every competition level collection!
