A rare specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian decorating prehnite crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are gem and clear to 1mm. They have a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. They are with a sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some minor inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Sharp prismatic prehnite crystals form the base. They are with flat tips and a strong luster. It displays from 3 sides. A choice piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some nicks and contacts. On acrylic base.

Marvelous!
