A fine alabandite crystal from the famous Merelani Hills, Tanzania. Alabandite is a rare manganese sulfide and Merelani Hills has produced among the finest examples for the species. It displays a sharp octahedral crystal. It is dark silvery-grey, with reddish coating and matt. Some prismatic green crystals, probably diopside, are seen at the base. For references see the issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 45, # 4, July-August 2014. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
