A killer jewel of garnet var. grossular with pinkish hue and grass green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 4mm are water clear and gem with grass green cores which are result of chromium, and surrounded by transparent areas with a pink hue. Normally these are colorless and the pinkish phantom garnets are extremely rarer. The crystals have sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization, strong glassy luster and irresistible contrast. Apple green diopside crystals cover the base. The garnets are fluorescent. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. It displays attractively all over 360 degree. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Exceptional!
