A top quality jewel of gem garnet var. grossular crystals with green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are super gem and clear up to 6mm. They have grass-green cores due to chromium, surrounded by transparent colorless areas. The crystals have a razor sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit and a glassy luster. The quality is outstanding. Rich apple-green diopside crystals add a nice accent. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some outside edge contacts. On acrylic base.

Exceptional beauty!
