A striking crystal of manganoan vesuvianite from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It is gemmy with a rich and saturated purple color to some apple-green areas. The luster is strong and the crystal is glassy. It is well shaped. Jeffrey mine produced some of the finest vesuvianite in the world and this is a choice piece. The mine is closed since a long time. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In good condition – some contacts. On acrylic base.
Mesmerizing!
