A pretty specimen of gem garnet var. andradite var. demantoid from Malenco Valley, Italy. At the top of the white asbestos base sits one demantoid crystal of 6mm. It forms an excellent focal point. It has a sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit. It is strongly lustrous, light reflective and gemmy. The color is pleasing apple-green and the crystal is sparkling. On the back side are seen some smaller crystals. In excellent condition. On acrylic base.
Fascinating!
