A superb crystal of very rare twinned whewellite from the famous Schlema-Hartenstein District of Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany. This specimen was mined more that 30 years ago (in 1990) in 1575 level, Shaft 371 by a miner and kept in his personal collection. Whewellite is a chemically unusual hydrated-calcium-oxalate. It displays a superb whewellite with sharp crystallization all over. It is opaque and white with a strong pearly luster. It is twinned which is even more unusual. Some small yellow chalcopyrite crystals grow above. In very good condition – some natural imperfections. On acrylic base.
