Killer and very rare shigaite crystals from this famous locality - NChwaning I Mine, South Africa. Shigaite is a very rare aluminum manganese sulfate and the finest specimens for the species come from this locality. On a base covered with small, pale rhodochrosite crystals grow shigaite crystals. The main 6mm crystal forms an excellent focal point. The smaller crystals are horizontal. They are tabular and hexagonal with a rich honey-red color when properly lighted. They are strongly light reflective and shiny. For references see the 2017 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 48, # 1. In very good condition – small natural imperfections. On acrylic base.
Outstanding shigaite – it is a chance to have such rarity!
