A killer specimen of sperrylite crystals over chalcopyrite base from the famous Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Noril sk, Russia. Sperrylite is a rare platinum containing species. The crystals to 5mm have a sharp shape, metallic mirror luster with strong brilliance. The yellow chalcopyrite base gives a strong contrast. It probably has inclusions of paolovite and nigglyite. Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit produced some of the finest sperrylite specimens and this is a choice representative. These were mined many decades ago. For references see the 2010 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 41, # 2. In excellent condition. On acrylic base.
World grade quality sperrylite!
