An exceptional and extremely rare specimen of high quality garnet var. grossular var. chromian decorating purple hue prehnite crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It comes from the renowned collection of Rock Currier, USA with a label. The grossular crystals are diamonds like jewels. They are gem and clear to 2mm. They have a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. They are with a sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some minor inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Sharp prismatic prehnite crystals form the base. They have a very rare purple hue. They are with flat tips and a strong luster. It displays beautifully all over 360 degree. A fine piece from this closed mine. This is of truly superior quality – very colorful, gem and extremely sparkling. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small nicks and contacts. On acrylic base.
