A striking specimen of dioptase crystals over quartz and mottramite from the famous Milpillas Mine, Sonora, Mexico. Dioptase is rare at the mine. The crystals are elongated, gemmy and lustrous. They have a gorgeous and rich sea-blue-green color. The color is better in person. The dioptase grows over colorless quartz. Inside and over are seen clusters with mottramite with a color variation from olive green to black. For references see the 2021 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 52, # 5. In excellent condition – some small contacts.
Colorful dioptase!
