Charming specimen of rare Garnet var. Grossular with green phantoms. Grossular crystals are gem, with deep green cores, which are result of Chromium, surrounded by transparent, colorless areas. Crystals have rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, good luster and irresistible contrast. Some green Diopsides are grown too. Green cored Garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is inactive now. For references see the issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some side contacts (seen on the photos). On acrylic base.

Gorgeous phantom Garnets!
