A fantastic specimen of orange colored grossular garnet crystals up to 8mm from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. They are transparent, gem quality with superb luster and lighter to deeper color. The crystals have a rhombic dodecahedral habit with sharp crystallization. Snow white albite crystals with a sharp habit cover the base. The grossular crystals contrast strongly on white albite base. The main garnet crystal forms an excellent focal point. Truly a choice piece from this great and closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – one small contact on the right side of the main crystal (seen on the photos). On acrylic base.
Magnificent!
