A splendid specimen of rare pink garnet var. grossular from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 4mm are water clear and gem with a marvelous pink color. The crystals have sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization and a strong glassy luster. They are fluorescent. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some outside edge contacts. On acrylic base.
Fascinating!
