A superb specimen of rich blue carletonite crystals decorated with calcite from this famous locality - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. The carletonite is one of the very rare mineral species unique for the type locality Mont Saint-Hilaire. It occurs only there and none has been found for many years. Crystals are not often seen and most of the pieces are just cleavages. This specimen shows several crystals to 5 mm with a good luster. The color varies from colorless to rich royal blue. The cubic crystals are from translucent to gem. Yellow calcite gives a nice contrast and colorfulness. For references see the 1990 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 21, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Fine carletonite!
