Rich green garnet var. grossular var. chromian crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals small but gem, strongly lustrous and sparkling. They have a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. They are with a sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some small inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Light green diopside crystals grow on the back side. A cool piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition. With acrylic base – not glued.
Colorful!
