A beautiful specimen of lustrous garnet var. andradite var. melanite crystals sitting on a matrix from Arrondissement Diakon, Kayes Region, Mali. The melanite crystals to 20 mm are very well shaped and isolated. They are black with a sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit and strong luster. They have pretty beveled edges. The main crystal forms an excellent focal point at the top. In very good condition – some small nicks. On acrylic base.
