A splendid specimen of gemmy vesuvianite crystals from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The main crystal of 28 mm has a rich tobacco–green color and darker core. It gives a beautiful and distinctive display. Second generation of small crystals grow above. The quality is very good – gemmy and glassy crystals with very lustrous faces which strongly reflect the light. That gives a sparkling appearance. The crystals are very well shaped and sharp with pointy tips. Small, tabular, colorless diopside crystals are seen at the top. They are sharp, lustrous and transparent. It displays attractively from all sides. Overall a fine vesuvianite from this great now closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – one small contact. On acrylic base.
Superb!
