An outstanding specimen of kolwezite over richly fuchsia colored dolomite var. cobaltoan dolomite covering calcite crystals from Kansalawile Mine, Tenke-Fungurume area, Congo - Kinshasa. It displays sharp, rhombohedral calcite crystals base. Cobaltoan dolomite layer covers the calcite. It is with an amazing and vivid fuchsia color. Above are seen green kolwezite clusters with a botryoidal habit. Kolwezite is a rare anhydrous Cu-Co carbonate. This is a unique combo of two highly sought-after minerals. Cobaltoan dolomite covers the specimen all over. On the back side are seen transparent quartz crystals. Some black mineralization around the kolwezite clusters is heterogenite. In very good condition – some small nicks.
Mesmerizing!
