A cool and uncommon specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It is translucent with waxy lustrous faces. It has a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. The color is more intense than usually. The garnet is with sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization. Fine thumbnail from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Gorgeous!
