Fabulous and very rare shigaite crystals decorating sparkling rhodochrosite from this famous locality - NChwaning I Mine, South Africa. Shigaite is a very rare aluminum manganese sulfate and the finest specimens for the species come from this locality. It displays strongly sparkling fresh rhodochrosite crystals with a vivid pink color. Above grow two shigaite crystals. The main 5mm crystal forms an excellent focal point. The smaller crystal is 4mm and it is included in the base. They are tabular and hexagonal with a honey-red color. They are strongly light reflective and shiny. For references see the 2017 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 48, # 1. In superb condition – base part contacts. On acrylic base.

Outstanding shigaite-rhodochrosite combo – it is a chance to have such rarity!
