An excellent specimen of lazulite from the famous phosphate deposits of Yukon. Lazulite is a rare magnesium aluminum phosphate and some of the finest come from this locality. Lazulite crystals are sharp, highly lustrous, very well formed, monoclinic, deep indigo blue color measuring to 13mm. Many crystals have gemmy areas with marvelous blue-green color. Translucent to transparent brown siderite crystals grow above. They are rhombohedral, sharp and lustrous. Transparent quartz crystals add a sparkling effect. It displays attractively on both sides. For references see the 1992 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 23, # 4. In very good condition – some small nicks and contacts. On acrylic base.
Beautiful!
