A fabulous specimen of very rare garnet var. grossular with grass-green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 8mm are gem with green cores which are a result of chromium and surrounded by transparent colorless areas. The crystals have rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, good luster and irresistible contrast. Apple-green diopside crystals are seen too. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now.  It displays all over 360 degree. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small nicks and base part contacts. On acrylic base.

Gorgeous phantom garnets!
