A cool thumbnail specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian with black chromite inclusions from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals to 1,5mm are gem and clear with a glassy luster. The garnets have a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. The color is more intense in front. The garnets are with sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization. Some minor inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Fine small cluster from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – some minor nicks. On acrylic base.
Gorgeous!
