A colorful specimen of very rare garnet var. grossular with green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are gem with green cores which are result of chromium and surrounded by transparent colorless areas. The crystals have rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization and a good luster. Apple-green diopside crystals grow on the base. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
