A splendid specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are gem to 2mm. They have a deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. The garnets are with a sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some small apple-green diopside crystals cover the base. Pleasing piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Cool gem-green garnets!
