A superb and uncommon goethite epimorph after selenite from the famous Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico. Epimorph is a type of pseudomorph where a mineral replaces another mineral and the original mineral dissolves, leaving a hollow cast surrounded by the new mineral. It displays black goethite with a very sharp shape of the dissolved primary selenite. On the other side the goethite has the typical botryoidal habit. It is strongly lustrous. The specimen is complete all over. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Exquisite!
