An exceptional specimen of rich blue carletonite crystals decorated with calcite from this famous locality - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. The carletonite is one of the very rare mineral species unique for the type locality Mont Saint-Hilaire. It occurs only there and none has been found for many years. Crystals are not often seen and most of the pieces are just cleavages. The calcite crystals growing above prove the natural origin of some faces. Carletonite has from rich royal blue color to lighter blue. For references see the 1990 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 21, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Killer carletonite!
