A splendid specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian with black chromite inclusions from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are gem to 2mm. They have a deep and saturated grass-green color due to chromium. The garnets are with a sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Fine piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Cool gem-green garnets!
