A fabulous jewel of very rare garnet var. grossular with grass-green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 4mm are transparent and gem with grass-green cores which are result of chromium, and surrounded by orange areas. Normally these are colorless and the orange phantom garnets are even rarer. The crystals have a sharp crystallization, strong luster and irresistible contrast. The green cored garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some back side contacts. On acrylic base.
Gorgeous phantom garnets!
