An exceptional specimen of kolwezite pseudomorph after cuprite over rich dolomite var. cobaltoan dolomite base from Kakanda deposit, Lualaba, Democratic Republic of Congo. The specimen comes from a unique small find. It displays very well formed crystals of cobaltoan dolomite with an amazing and vivid fuchsia color and a strong luster. They are transparent and gemmy. They densely grow on both sides. Above are seen green crystals of kolwezite pseudomorph after cuprite. The initial octahedral cuprite crystals are sharp and well shaped. They are completely replaced by kolwezite. Kolwezite is a rare anhydrous Cu-Co carbonate. This is a unique combo of two highly sought-after minerals. In superb condition.
Outstanding!
