A killer specimen of garnet var. andradite var. melanite crystals nestled attractively on a feldspar-epidote base from Kayes Region, Mali. The dominant 25mm melanite crystal forms an excellent focal point. It is black with a perfect, razor-sharp rhombic dodecahedral habit and a strong luster. It has pretty beveled edges. The specimen displays beautifully all over 360 degree. In very good condition – some small contacts and nicks. On acrylic base.
