A marvelous specimen of corundum var. ruby on a white marble base from Jegdalek ruby deposit, Afghanistan. The crystal of 8mm has a rich fuchsia color. It is well shaped. The luster is good. It is slightly translucent and it displays some gemminess. The white base gives a superb contrast.  Some small contacts. On acrylic base.
