A pleasing specimen of rare garnet var. grossular with green phantoms together with diopside and minor clinochlore from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals are with green cores, which are result of chromium, surrounded by transparent, colorless areas. Apple-green diopside crystals form the base. Minor grey clinochlore rosettes are seen too. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. It displays on both sides. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Marvelous!
