A colorful specimen of gem garnet var. grossular var. chromian with clinochlore and diopside from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals to 3 mm have a rich grass-green color result of chromium. They have a rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. The crystals are gem. Dark clinochlore rosettes and diopside crystals are seen too. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Mesmerizing!
