Fascinating specimen of skeletal galena decorated attractively by chalcopyrite from 9th Septemvri mine, Madan ore field, Bulgaria. It displays very neat and geometrical arrangement of stacked and aligned galena crystals overgrowing each other. Excellent parallel growth of cubes and elongated tetragonal prisms on different axes. They grow one atop another forming amazing terraced structure. Some corners are truncated and parallel. The faces are matt. Yellow chalcopyrite crystals grow above and add a nice accent. In very good condition – some small nicks and contacts. On acrylic base.
Marvelous specimen from this closed mine – the only one that makes these structures!
