Colorful specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian with black chromite inclusions and diopside from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals to 1mm have a rich grass-green color result of chromium. They have rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. The crystals are gem. Small diopside crystals are seen too. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – some minor contacts. On acrylic base.
Marvelous!
