Exceptional specimen of skeletal galena crystals with sphalerite from 9th Septemvri mine, Madan ore field, Bulgaria. It displays very attractive geometrical perfection of stacked and aligned sharp galena crystals overgrowing each other. Excellent parallel growth of cubes and elongated tetragonal prisms on different axes. They grow one atop another forming an amazing terraced structure – like an Aztec pyramid. The faces are matt. A partial orange carbonate coating underlines very well the steps of galena and it gives a nice coloration. Black sphalerite tetrahedral crystals with a good luster form the base. It displays beautifully all over 360 degree. Better in person. In very good condition – some small damages.
