Elegant example of Rhodochrosite attractively decorating Elpidite from this great locality - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. It displays intergrowing Rhodochrosite crystals with salmon-pink color. The color is darker and more intense at the center. The crystals are complete and they have sharp shape with good luster. Elpidite is relatively rare hydrated sodium zirconium silicate. It forms a cluster of needle crystals with grey-green color. For references see the 1990 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 21, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts and natural imperfection. On acrylic base.
Superb!
