Fabulous jewel of very rare Garnet var. Grossular with grass green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The Grossular crystals to 4mm are transparent and gem with grass green cores which are result of Chromium, and surrounded by transparent colorless (at the base) to orange areas (at the top). Normally these are colorless and the orange phantom Garnets are even rarer. The crystals have sharp crystallization, strong luster and irresistible contrast. The green cored Garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some base part contacts. On acrylic base.
Gorgeous phantom Garnets!
