Exceptional jewel of very rare orange Garnet var. Grossular with grass green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The Grossular crystals to 7mm are gem and water clear with grass green cores, which are result of Chromium, and surrounded by transparent orange areas. Normally these are colorless and the orange phantom Garnets are even rarer. The crystals have sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization, strong glassy luster and irresistible contrast. The green cored Garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – some outside edge contacts. On acrylic base.
Outstanding phantom Garnets!
