Outstanding and very rare combo specimen of gem to opaque, and pinkish to white Grossular Garnets crystals associated with Wollastonite from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It displays very uncommon combination of two types of Garnet crystals on the same piece. Some Grossulars are glassy, transparent, gem quality with superb luster and pleasing light pink color. They have sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystal habit. Other Garnets are completely opaque and porcelain, with strong luster, and sharp rhombic decahedral habit. White hair like Wollastonite grows above. The contrast is very tender for this remarkable specimen from the closed Jeffrey mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition - some outside edge contacts.

Exceptional!
