Striking specimen of Garnet var. Grossular var. Chromian with small black Chromite inclusions from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The Grossular crystals are gem up to 3mm. They have deep and saturated grass-green color due to Chromium. The Garnets are with sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. They have pretty striated, beveled edges, which is quite rare for the Chromian Grossular from this locality. Some minor inclusions of black Chromite are seen too. The base is covered with apple-green Diopside. Fine piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Fabulous gem-green Garnets!
