Fascinating and sparkling specimen of rare Garnet var. Grossular with green phantoms from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals are gem. They have green cores, which are result of Chromium, surrounded by transparent, colorless areas. They have rhombic dodecahedral, sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. The specimen displays attractively all over 360 degree. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Mesmerizing!
