Fascinating specimen of gem Garnet var. Grossular var. Chromian with black Chromite inclusions from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals are gem and clear up to 2,5mm. They have deep and saturated grass-green color due to Chromium. The Garnets are with sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. Some minor inclusions of black Chromite are seen too. The base is covered with an unidentified botryoidal mineral. Choice piece from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Gorgeous gem-green Garnets!
