Splendid specimen of Rhodochrosite crystals on Quartz from Pasto Bueno District, Peru. It comes from the collection of Sandro Maggia, Italy with a label. It displays translucent to transparent and gemmy Rhodochrosite crystals to 8 mm with pleasing cherry-red color aesthetically growing above Quartz crystals. The Rhodochrosite crystals are rhombohedral with good matt luster. The color intensity varies depending the light. On a day light the color becomes paler. The color intensity on the photos is in the middle. The deposit has produced these treasures around 1980 and pieces like this have always been scarce. In very good condition – some imperfections.
Marvelous!
